Mental health treatment plans and Medicare Rebates

Clarity of Mind Psychology is a registered Medicare Provider and rebates are available for eligible clients. Currently, a Medicare rebate of $89.65 is available per session with a Psychologist. Eligible clients will be able to access 10 individual sessions with a psychologist per calendar year. Support for children under 13 years of age, with neurodevelopmental challenges (i.e. Autism) along with an appropriate referral from their GP or Paediatrician, are eligible for 20 subsidised sessions per calendar year.

To see whether you are able to access these supports, you will need to:

1. Speak with your doctor, Paediatrician or Psychiatrist. It is suggested you book a longer session with you doctor or physician to allow sufficient time to discuss options of a Mental Health Treatment Plan.

2. Please ensure that your doctor makes the referral to Clarity of Mind Psychology or Bryce Thompson. You must provide a copy of the Mental Health Care Plan to the treating psychologist at your first appointment. To utilise the Mental Health Care Plan, it must be accessed prior to your first appointment at Clarity of Mind Psychology.

3. A valid Mental Health Treatment Plan allows you to access up to 10 psychological session Medicare rebates. Medicare permits up to 10 psychological sessions per calendar year.

4. A copy of the treatment plan or referral requesting treatment must be provided to enable a Medicare rebate to be processed.

It is important to note, after 6 psychology sessions, you will then need to visit your doctor for a review to assess whether you need to access the additional 4 sessions. Rebatable sessions cannot exceed 10 sessions per calendar year. aAs mentioned above, support for children under 13 years of age, with neurodevelopmental challenges (i.e. Autism) along with an appropriate referral from their GP or Paediatrician, are eligible for 20 subsidised sessions per calendar year.

If you have a mental health disorder, you and your doctor can create a plan to treat it. Your mental health treatment plan will have goals agreed by you and your doctor. It’ll also have:

  • treatment options
  • support services available.

Keep in mind your health information and treatment plan will adhere to our privacy policy.
